Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that enhances the appearance of the eyebrows. It involves using a specialised hand-held tool with fine needles to deposit pigment into the upper layers of the skin, creating the look of natural, fuller eyebrows. This technique is particularly popular among those who want to define, shape, or fill in sparse brows.
Semi-Permanent: Unlike traditional tattoos, which penetrate deeper into the skin, microblading only affects the superficial layers. This makes the results semi-permanent, typically lasting between 12 to 18 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.
Natural Appearance: The microblading technique is designed to mimic natural eyebrow hairs. The strokes created by the microblading tool are very fine and blend seamlessly with existing brow hairs, resulting in a very natural-looking enhancement.
Customisable: Microblading allows for a bespoke look. During the initial consultation, the shape, thickness, and colour of the eyebrows are tailored to the client’s preferences, facial structure, and skin tone.
Procedure:
- Consultation: The process usually begins with a consultation where the desired brow shape and colour are discussed.
- Numbing: A numbing cream is applied to minimise discomfort during the procedure.
- Microblading: Using the microblading tool, the technician makes small, precise cuts into the skin and deposits the pigment. This process can take 1-2 hours, depending on the complexity of the desired look.
- Healing Process: The skin typically heals within 4-6 weeks. During this time, the pigment may appear darker initially but will gradually lighten as the skin heals and scabs form and fall off.
- Touch-Ups: A follow-up session is usually recommended 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure to touch up any areas where the pigment may not have taken as well or to adjust the shape/colour if needed.
A hugely popular treatment since 2017, this technique is fast becoming a popular alternative to microblading and can also help to camouflage old faded tattooing. Depending on your type of eyebrow growth, brow colour and skin type, you may be better suited to this very natural form of brow tattooing.
Unlike the “block” tattooing of the past, our artists utilise an “airbrushing” technique along the skin, where a series of infinitely fine dots of pigment are implanted into the skin to give a ‘mist” of colour along the skin.
You can discuss the option with your artist to build more intense colour in sparse areas such as the arch and tail for an ombré effect. The healed results looks very similar to our less permanent treatment Henna Brows and will minimise the use of eyebrow products as we have created background shading where you need it most.
This is a cosmetic tattoo procedure, therefore the healing and aftercare needs to be given as much attention as a regular brow tattoo
Your brows will experience noticeable changes throughout the healing process.
Immediately after your first appointment, your eyebrows will appear dark bold and bigger in size,
as the healing begins you will notice changes throughout.
Days 1-5
The treated area of your brows will begin to shed, it is important to let the skin shred naturally and refrain from picking, if the area is picked you run the risk of scaring or unsuccessful procedure.
Once the area has finished shedding the colour will be significantly lighter, this is normal, please be patience in this time.
Day 14-28
You will start to see the colour returning, they might seem patchy and uneven right up until your second visit.
Please be patient in this time this is normal.
An assessment will be carried out to see how well your skin has retained the pigment and corrections can be made at the second visit.
Please note
This is a guide, everyone heals differently and at different paces.
Keep the area clean and dry for 10 days after the procedure.
Avoid touching or picking at the treated area to prevent infection or pigment loss.
Protect the brows from excessive sun exposure, water, and sweat during the healing period.
Everyones result will vary due to skin type, lifestyle and after care.
