Does it hurt?
It all depends on your pain threshold, everyone is different and varies in sensitivity. Aesthetic Anaesthetic for numbing, however I find most clients are shocked at how little it hurts.
A few things may affect your sensitivity so avoid the procedure at the time of your menstrual cycle as this will increase discomfort. I also find if a client is on a lot of medication then this may affect your sensitivity too.
Between Microblading and the Ombré brow, my clients say that the ombré brow is less painful and virtually pain free.
How old do you have to be to have treatment?
You have to be 18 to have semi permanent makeup.
Who is suitable for semi-permanent makeup?
Most people are suitable for semi-permanent makeup! Microblading is more suitable for normal to dry skin types and Ombré brows are suitable for all skin types. However there are a few things that may not allow you to have spmu or you may need a Doctors' permission to have the procedure.
If you are concerned or worried about whether you can have the treatment please feel free to contact us.
Below is a list of contraindications that may make you unsuitable for spmu:
Can I have semi-permanent makeup if I am pregnant or nursing?
No. You must wait at least 12 weeks after having the baby for any spmu, otherwise the hormones will push the pigment out of the skin. If you are nursing then fabulous, enjoy that time with baby. Once finished wait 12 weeks for your hormones to die down and then you can have spmu.
How long does it last?
Semi-permenant makeup fades over time. This depends entirely on your skin type, lifestyle, health and what method we choose to go for (colour/pigment chosen). Lighter pigments fade quicker.
All these factors can cause the cosmetic tattoo to fade faster. I generally find that Microblading doesn’t last as long as Ombré brows. Microblading can last anywhere between 6 months to 15 months and Ombré brows can last between 6 months to 2 years. Annual touch ups are recommended to refresh the pigment
If you are unsure whether to have a touch up, please send a clear picture of your brows and I should be able to assess them via message.
Who benefits from semi-permanent makeup?
Everyone does! It’s suitable for men and women. It can benefit people that:
How many treatments are needed (brows)?
A minimum of two treatments 4-8 weeks apart are needed. Semi permanent makeup is a process and not complete in one session, it’s a two step process and on occasion a third appointment is needed.
The initial 4-8 week touch up is included in the price however if a third 4-8 week touch up is needed there is an extra cost of £50 for this treatment.
It’s essential to have the second touch up so make sure you are able to attend the appointment 4-8 weeks after your initial appointment before you book.
During the second touch up session we can asses the colour retention and make suitable adjustments if needed, such as go darker.
What if my eyebrows are too light after the first appointment?
Don’t worry if you feel as if your brows are too light after the first appointment. Semi permanent makeup is a two step process (minimum) and at the second session we can assess the colour retention and go darker if needed.
How long do they take to heal (brows)?
Brows take 4-8 weeks to heal and for the colour to settle. After 4-8 weeks you have your touch up appointment. If you have a special occasion or a holiday that you want your brows to look perfect for then I suggest having your initial appointment 12 weeks before your occasion.
During the healing process (days 1-7) your brows will go really dark.
During days 7-10 they start to flake off. This is the stage when people freak out, but don’t panic it is normal and part of the healing process. Your brows will then go through a period of looking lighter.
2 weeks later the colour will start to resurface .
Please note, this is just a guide, everyone heals differently and at different paces.
What is dermaplaning ?
Dermaplaning is a results driven exfoliating facial in which your practitioner will use a fine surgical scalpel to gently scrape away dead skin cells sitting on the surface of your skin while simultaneously removing peach fuzz (vellus hair) from the face.
Why is this an essential treatment?
Due to the build-up of dead skin that accumulates over time, your pores can become clogged and can cause the skin to break out. Along with the appearance of visible, fluffy hair – the skin can also appear dull and dry. The precision of the fine scalpel ensures the most meticulous mechanical exfoliation and is fundamental for maintaining even, healthy and glowing skin.
What are the benefits of dermaplaning ?
The results can vary for everyone, but realistically, you can expect to see a smoother surface, zero peach fuzz (until it grows back), and slightly brighter-looking skin after your dermaplaning appointment, and because you’re removing any and all of your dead skin cells, your skin care will better penetrate when you apply products, making them all the more effective.
Is dermaplaning the same as shaving ?
Dermaplaning is performed with a licensed professional, technically we are shaving the outer layer of the skin removing more then just vellus hair, the treatment is results driven and over time will reduce acne scaring, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, it will also help with the overall general appearance of the skin delivering immediate results.
What are the side effects of dermaplaning?
In the hands of a professional, dermaplaning is safe for most skin types, especially those with sun damage, fine lines, dry patches, and dull skin. If you have highly reactive, sensitive skin (like those with rosacea or keratosis pilaris), you may want to pass on this one, since it might irritate your skin. Same goes for anyone with inflamed acne.
Will dermaplaning cause breakouts?
Quite the opposite, actually. A buildup of dead skin can clog your pores and hair follicles, which can not only cause pimples but also block your skincare products from penetrating the skin, which is why exfoliation is essential for maintaining an even, healthy glow.
How much does dermaplaning cost?
At Harpers Beauty the cost of A dermaplanning treatment is £65
Does dermaplaning hurt?
it’s not painful. However we do not recommend you try this at home, it’s super important to leave dermaplaning to professionals.
Is there any downtime after dermaplaning?
Some light redness can be expected but not always. It’s perfectly fine and common to make an appointment during lunch and go right back to work after the 40-minute treatment.
Can you wear makeup after dermaplaning?
Ever notice how peach fuzz tends to stand out even more underneath foundation and face powders? Well, since dermaplaning removes all the little hairs on your face, your makeup will actually glide on super smoothly, but although it’s tempting to see the results right away, try to avoid slapping on a face full of makeup immediately after your dermaplaning treatment.
Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker?
Contrary to what you’ve been told, dermaplaning (and shaving!) will not make your hair grow back thicker or darker. Once your hair begins to grow back, it might feel different because the hair was cut straight across, but it’s actually the same texture as it was before and it will continue to grow at the same speed.
How often do I need dermaplaning treatments?
Since this is a deeply exfoliating treatment, it is recommended that you wait between 3-4 weeks between appointments, although some patients with sensitive skin can even limit their treatments to once a season.
Will dermaplaning make my skin more sensitive to the sun?
Post-exfoliation, your skin will be especially susceptible to the sun, so if you don’t take sun protection seriously you might want to skip this treatment altogether. Otherwise, you’ll need to be diligent with SPF afterward—use gentle sunscreens of at least SPF 30.
